Gear Guide
Beyond a sturdy, comfortable pair of shoes, very little gear is required for walking. Like any activity, clothing needs are dependent on the weather. An ordinary t-shirt and shorts are perfect for summer days, while a warm coat, hat, and gloves are good to wear on a winter stroll. Sunglasses and an application of sunscreen and maybe a little insect repellent aren't a bad idea either. Always have potable water in tow. As you become more adventurous, you may find a backpack, snacks, and walking (or trekking) poles handy for longer or backwoods excursions. Gadgets like pedometers are great, but certainly are not necessary. As long as you have appropriate clothing and footwear, you're pretty much good to go.
