Location Details

This trail follows along the Natchaug River for .3 miles and lies entirely within the Natchaug State Forest. It uses 1 mile of Blue-Blazed Natchaug Trail as part of the loop and provides access for hikers, picnickers, and fishermen. Forest, streams, brooks, a vernal pool, and large pond provide opportunities to observe wildlife.

Common sense prevails if Natchaug River is at flood stage. The trail becomes flooded at these times.

blue-blazed-trail Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail:

The Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System, was established in 1929 by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), a private, non-profit conservation organization. Since that time, the system has grown to include roughly 825 miles of footpaths across Connecticut. How to get there

Driving Directions:

The CCC loop starts at the junction of the Natchaug Trail and an unnamed dirt forest road 2.3 miles north of Orchard Hill. The road extends from Morey Road in Chaplin to Kingsbury Road in Hampton.
