Location Details
This adventure begins by crossing Comstock Bridge (the only covered bridge in eastern Connecticut) and then follows the blazes along the Salmon River. The Salmon River Trail is a lollipop-shaped loop trail that eventually passes through Day Pond State Park. Spectacular views can be enjoyed as well as mixed hardwood forest and old hemlocks.

The Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System, was established in 1929 by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), a private, non-profit conservation organization. Since that time, the system has grown to include roughly 825 miles of footpaths across Connecticut. How to get there
| Driving Directions: | Take Comstock Bridge Road on the north side of Route 16, just west of the Colchester town line in East Hampton, to the Comstock Bridge parking area. To reach the Day Pond State Park trailhead, take Route 2 Exit 16 in Colchester. Follow Route 149 south for 3 miles and take a hard right onto Peck Lane. Turn left onto Day Pond Road and continue to Day Pond State Park. |
